Project: York Museums Trust is seeking proposals for how to improve the welcome and wayfinding experience at the Castle Museum. Visitors enter and exit the museum through a shared concourse area that also houses an admissions and welcome desk, retail and food services. Because of the historical nature of the building (split into two structures with the concourse area linking them), visitors have to choose to either go left or right to see the exhibits, and then double-back on themselves. As a result many people may miss a good portion of the museum. Working in groups develop speculative ideas in the form of a proposal for how to improve the circulation and welcome experience in the museums concourse area.
