Exhibition

At Home, Again

Consider ways to add a new interpretive layer to an existing exhibition.

Overview
Exhibitions are often on view for several months – sometimes years. Can exhibitions evolve over time or be experienced through a new lens or incorporate additive interpretation to encourage repeat visits and remain fresh without costly re-installations?

Brief
Add a new interpretive layer to the current exhibition At Home at the Museum of Design and Applied Art. The “layer” should not change the existing exhibition design but augment the installation using a variety of contemplative, sensory, discovery, and participatory design methods. The layer should provide a new “topical” lens for audiences to experience the objects on display and their related concepts that will encourage repeat visits. Work in teams to develop the content and quickly rendered design solutions.

Process
Phase 1: Research and Design Analysis (Absorb)
Phase 2: Concept and Design Proposal (Ideate)
Phase 3: Detailed Design Solutions (Develop)
Phase 4: Design Documentation and Intent (Present)
