Project: Serving as a potential gateway between UC Davis campus and downtown Davis, Third Street has been marked as a unique place in the Davis community. The City of Davis has begun working on improvement plans for the stretch of Third Street between A and B Streets. This stretch currently lacks identity, a sense of place and arrival either into downtown or to the UC Davis campus. The City of Davis is transforming this corridor into a memorable experience for bicycles as well as pedestrians. The proposed changes will improve the safety, function, aesthetics, and sustainability of these two-blocks. The City of Davis is looking to create an inviting streetscape integrating both landscape design as well as signage. Branding the street will unify the corridor and help identify it as a gateway. The landscape and environmental graphics will create a welcoming atmosphere that will encourage UC Davis students as well as Davis residents to enjoy the surrounding restaurants and shops.
